The Problem
The drain lines and grease traps in your kitchen, food preparation or processing areas are designed to flow at a specific rate. During daily use, grease and other organic matter build up on the sides of those pipes, reducing their flow. Even a brand-new drain system can develop problems in just a few months — to the extent that flow rates are reduced by one-half or more!
For example, as little as a one-half-inch buildup on the inside diameter of a four-inch or larger sewer line can cut the flow rate by about 50%. As more waste is deposited on the walls of the line, the flow rate is reduced further - until a total blockage occurs. Sure, you can clean the pipes - but as soon as you're done, grease and waste begin building up again.
The Solution
To help solve drain line blockage problems, Roto-Rooter offers a system for ongoing drain maintenance that combines high technology with the latest advances in environmentally friendly microbiology. Using a microprocessor-controlled Time Flow Meter, Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment is pumped into your drain lines on a preprogrammed schedule to maintain proper drain flow.
The unique bioenzymatic formulation of Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment contains a blend of scientifically developed and selectively adapted sporetype microorganisms that literally "gobble up" organic waste materials and turn them into nonpolluting water and carbon dioxide. Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment is especially effective on long-chain fatty acids, the most common cause of grease trap problems, As a bonus, Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment also eliminates foul odors—including hydrogen sulfide, the familiar "rotten-egg" smell—because the microorganisms consume odor-causing organic wastes.
At the same time, a biofilm of these safe but active microorganisms builds up on the inside walls of drain lines and grease traps. This biofilm works around the clock, consuming grease and organic wastes before they have a chance to accumulate.
The microorganisms in Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment are similar to those found in nature. They don't contribute to pollution; in fact, they actually aid municipal treatment plants by beginning the biodegradation process upstream. Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment complies with all EPA requirements.
The Roto-Rooter® Time Flow Meter injects a precise amount of Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment into drain lines to replenish the biofilm washed away by the natural flow of water through the system each day. The Time Flow Meter is totally automated and utilizes a battery backup system that maintains your preprogrammed schedule in the event of a power failure.
Your Roto-Rooter plumber will survey your drain and waste system, arrange for an initial line cleaning (if necessary) and design a treatment schedule tailored to your needs. Most food-service drain systems offer several possible locations for positioning the Time Flow Meter and a container of Roto-Rooter Drain and Grease Trap Treatment.
General Description
Roto-Rooter® Drain and Grease Trap Treatment is a blend of selectively adapted spore-type bacteria that completely degrades—not just dissolves—grease, fats and other organic waste. Grease waste is converted into fatty acids that are then oxidized into nonpolluting carbon dioxide and water.
The Time Flow Meter is an electronic device with a microprocessor that controls a self-contained injection system, automatically dispensing Roto-Rooter Drain and Grease Trap Treatment into drain lines and grease traps. The microprocessor is capable of 24 separate cycles per day, seven days per week. Any of the seven days may be eliminated, if necessary. The Time Flow Meter operates on 24 volts via a 110/24-volt transformer. Battery backup maintains the microprocessor program in the event of a power failure.
Specifications
Bacteria Type: Six-strain blend of highly selected sporetype Bacillus (for longer shelf life)
pH: 8.5-8.9
Stability: 24 months minimum
Storage and Handling: For maximum shelf life, store between 35° and 115° F. If frozen, thaw and mix thoroughly before use. Avoid eye contact. Do not ingest.
Packaging: Available in 5-, 15- and 30-gallon polyethylene containers.
Treatment: Always make applications during the drain system's longest period of nonuse—usually after cleanup at the end of the day. For best results, product should be injected daily. Clean slow-running drains and overloaded grease traps prior to beginning treatment program.
